There was no surprise when 8th ranked Prievidza (4-10) was defeated at home by second ranked Levice (9-4) 81-68 on Saturday. Levice looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Dutch-British guard Devon Van Oostrum (190-1993, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 9 points and 12 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Slovenian guard Miha Lapornik (194-1993, agency: PEPI SPORT) chipped in 19 points during the contest. Levice's coach Michal Madzin used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Marek Jass (194-1990) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Kellon Taylor (198-1998, college: McNeese St., agency: Players Group) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Levice have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 9-4 record behind leader Spisski Rytieri. Loser Prievidza stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. They share the position with Handlova. Levice will meet at home Lucenec (#6) in the next round. Prievidza will play against Handlova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
