Very important is a road loss of third ranked Barca CBS (7-4) against fifth ranked Avenida (8-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Barca CBS was defeated by Avenida in Salamanca 67-54. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Barca CBS. Avenida forced 19 Barca CBS turnovers. It was a great evening for Greek forward Maria Fasoula (196-1997, college: Vanderbilt) who led her team to a victory scoring 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Leonor Rodriguez-Manso (180-1991, college: FSU) helped adding 8 points and 4 assists. Canadian center Ruth Davis (198-1994, college: Oregon St.) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Jolene Anderson (173-1986, college: Wisconsin) scored 3 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Zaragoza. Newly promoted Barca CBS dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Avenida will play against Araski (#6) in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the next round. Barca CBS will play at home against Zaragoza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
