Regular Season Round 7: Landes - Bourges 71-67

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Bourges (5-2) against eighth ranked Landes (3-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Bourges was defeated by Landes in a tough game in Mont de Marsan 67-71. It was a great evening for international point guard Marine Fauthoux (173-2001) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points. The former international power forward Kendra Chery (187-2001) helped adding 7 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side Serbian-American guard Yvonne Anderson (170-1990, college: Texas) responded with 14 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Canadian center Kayla Alexander (193-1991, college: Syracuse) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Four Bourges players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Landes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Tarbes and Flammes. Defending champion Bourges dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Villeneuve and BLMA. Landes will play against higher ranked BLMA (#3) in Montpellier in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bourges will play at home against the league's leader Lyon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
