Rather expected game when 17th ranked Le Portel (1-13) lost at home to fifteenth ranked Monaco (5-9) 87-73 on Sunday. Monaco dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Le Portel's 40. Monaco forced 20 Le Portel turnovers and outrebounded them 41-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. Ambroise Couture (199-2002) nailed 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Monaco guard Nicolas Vanel (193-2003) accounted for 14 points and 10 rebounds. Five Monaco players scored in double figures. Cameron Valcy (192-2003) came up with 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Antoine Sobczak (187-2002) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for Le Portel in the defeat. Le Portel's coach Kevin Poinsot rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Monaco moved-up to fourteenth place. Le Portel lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventeenth position with 13 games lost. Monaco will meet at home higher ranked ASVEL (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
