Regular Season Round 11: Lille - Denain-Voltaire 82-79

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Denain Voltaire (6-5) was edged on the road by ninth ranked Lille Metropole (6-5) 82-79 on Tuesday. Lille Metropole made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for Vincentian-Canadian forward Lien Phillip (203-1989, college: Windsor) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Carl Ponsar (203-1997) helped adding 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Nigerian guard Michael Oguine (188-1996, college: Montana) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Brandon Edwards (198-1991, college: UT Arlington) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Lille Metropole moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Denain Voltaire. Lille Metropole will meet higher ranked Olympique Antibes (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Denain Voltaire will play against Boulazac Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
