Regular Season Round 11: ASA - Angers 95-76

There was an upset in Gries where higher ranked Etoile Angers (6-5) was crushed by seventeenth ranked ASA (3-8) 95-76 on Tuesday. ASA made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. ASA outrebounded Etoile Angers 36-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for naturalized Spanish guard Tom Digbeu (195-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). American-Nigerian forward Christian Nwogbo (200-1991, college: Cedarville) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. Five ASA players scored in double figures. American-Bahamas forward Jonathan Augustin-Fairell (201-1993, college: Murray St.) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Yohan Choupas (193-2000) scored 12 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ASA moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Stade Rochelais and Aix-Maurienne. Newly promoted Etoile Angers keeps the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. ASA will meet higher ranked Nantes (#12) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Etoile Angers will play against Saint Chamond (#15) and hope to secure a win.
