Regular Season Round 17: Caen - Rouen 81-77

There was a minor upset when leader SPO Rouen (14-3) was defeated on the road by third ranked Caen (10-6) 81-77 on Friday. Caen outrebounded SPO Rouen 36-22 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Demond Watt (200-1989, college: TAMUCC) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Yanik Blanc (188-1999) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Moroccan forward Karim Gourari (203-1989) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard William Mensah (175-1995) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Four Caen and five SPO Rouen players scored in double figures. SPO Rouen's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Caen went down to fifth position due to points difference. Loser SPO Rouen still keeps top place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
