The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Chalon/Saor as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Chalon/Saor defeated one of their biggest challengers JA Vichy at home 88-79. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of JA Vichy. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It was a good game for American point guard Galen Robinson Jr (184-1997, college: Houston) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 8 assists. Swedish center Mattias Markusson (220-1996, college: LMU) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Leopold Delaunay (193-2001) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Tray Boyd III (193-1998, college: ETSU) added 13 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) in the effort for JA Vichy. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chalon/Saor (9-3) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. JA Vichy at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Boulazac. JA Vichy will play next round against Olympique Antibes trying to get back on the winning streak. Chalon/Saor will try to continue on its current victory against sixteenth ranked ASA in Gries.
