Regular Season Round 17: Kobrat - Kouvot 98-100

The most exciting game of round 17 in the Korisliiga took place in Lapua. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Kobrat (9-8) to eighth ranked Kouvot (8-7) 100-98 on Wednesday evening. Kobrat was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 22-17 charge of Kouvot, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Kobrat helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Quan Jackson (193-1997, college: UAB) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and guard Deshon Taylor (188-1996, college: Fresno St.) chipped in 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Danny Pippen (206-1997, college: Kent St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and guard KJ Jackson (188-1998, college: UMBC) scored 22 points and 7 assists. Five Kouvot and four Kobrat players scored in double figures. Kouvot moved-up to seventh place. Kobrat lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Kouvot are looking forward to face higher ranked Vilpas (#3) in Salo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kobrat will play on the road against Kotka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
