The game in Sauoarkrokur was also quite interesting. Second ranked Valur (9-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Tindastoll (6-5). Valur managed to secure a 6-point victory 84-78 on Thursday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tindastoll. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-17. But Tindastoll won second period 19-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valur made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Argentinian-Italian Pablo Bertone (190-1990, college: FAU, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). The former international guard Kari Jonsson (192-1997, college: Drexel) helped adding 13 points and 9 assists. Five Valur players scored in double figures. American Keyshawn Woods (192-1996, college: Ohio St.) responded with 23 points and the former international guard Petur Birgisson (187-1996) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Valur have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Tindastoll at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Grindavik. Valur will meet Stjarnan (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tindastoll will play against Keflavik and hope to secure a win.
