Regular Season Round 11: Stjarnan - KR 99-88

Very expected game when 12th ranked KR (1-10) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Stjarnan (5-6) 99-88 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Stjarnan. KR managed to win third quarter 33-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 30-of-34 free shots (88.2 percent) during the game. Stjarnan outrebounded KR 46-31 including 35 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American point guard Robert Turner III (190-1993, college: Texas Tech, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Guard Arnthor Gudmundsson (187-1991) helped adding 21 points and 6 rebounds. Gudmundsson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Stjarnan's coach Arnar Gudjonsson used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard EC Matthews (196-1994, college: URI) responded with 31 points and 6 rebounds and Finnish guard Aapeli Alanen (201-1996, agency: Blacktop Management) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Stjarnan maintains eighth place with 5-6 record, which they share with Hottur. KR lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Stjarnan will meet at home league's leader Valur in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KR will play against Grindavik (#7) and hope to win that game.
