Not a big story in a game in Badalona where 18th ranked Real Betis (2-11) was defeated by sixth ranked Joventut (9-4) 93-81 on Thursday. Joventut dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Real Betis' 28 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Real Betis 42-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. Joventut looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-1987, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and the former international forward Joel Parra (202-2000) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Joventut's coach Carles Duran used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American-Guinean point guard Shannon Evans II (185-1994, college: Arizona St.) responded with 24 points and 8 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and point guard Jose Pozas (183-1992) scored 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Joventut. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Unicaja. Real Betis lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Joventut will meet Girona (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Real Betis will play against Gran Canaria and hope to secure a win.
