Regular Season Round 14: Legia - Stal 68-96
Date: January 1, 2023
Everything went according to plan when third ranked Stal (10-4) outplayed 5th ranked Legia (8-6) in Warszawa 96-68 on Sunday. They outrebounded Legia 42-31 including 28 on the defensive glass. Stal looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Adonis Thomas (195-1993, college: Memphis, agency: Slash Sports) notched 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Montenegrin Nemanja Djurisic (202-1992, college: Georgia) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Even 12 points and 8 rebounds by the former international center Dariusz Wyka (209-1991) did not help to save the game for Legia. American point guard Ray McCallum (191-1991, college: Detroit) added 14 points for the hosts. Five Stal and four Legia players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Stal maintains third position with 10-4 record having four points less than leader Slask. Loser Legia keeps the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with Anwil. Stal will meet at home Anwil (#6) in the next round. Legia will play against Enea Zastal in Zielona Gora and hope to secure a win.
