Regular Season Round 19: Lahti - Nokia 94-90 OT

7th ranked Nokia (9-9) fell to tenth ranked Lahti (6-13) in overtime by four points 90-94. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nokia won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Nokia used huge pressure winning it 24-14 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 5-9. Lahti made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Lahti outrebounded Nokia 50-38 including 18 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international guard Arttu Saarijarvi (200-1996) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Devon Thomas (183-1994, college: Texas Tech) helped adding 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side American forward Malik Benlevi (198-1997, college: Georgia St., agency: Verus Management) responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import point guard Perrion Callandret (188-1995, college: Idaho) scored 15 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Lahti and five Nokia players scored in double figures. Nokia's coach Greg Gibson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lahti maintains tenth place with 6-13 record. Nokia at the other side dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Kotka. Lahti will play against higher ranked Kobrat (#8) in Lapua in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nokia will play on the road against Kataja in Joensuu and hopes to get back on the winning track.
