Regular Season Round 13: Niki Lefkadas - Esperides 64-59

The game between third ranked Esperides (8-5) and fifth ranked Niki Lefkadas (7-6) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Esperides was defeated by Niki Lefkadas in a tough game in Lefkadas 59-64. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Esperides. They outrebounded Esperides 35-18 including a 30-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Stasha Carey (188-1995, college: Rutgers) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Swingman Abby OConnor (183-1998, college: Gonzaga) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Valerie Higgins (185-1998, college: Pacific, agency: LBM Management) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Nausia Woolfolk (175-1998, college: FSU) added 17 points and 6 steals in the effort for Esperides. Esperides' coach Thanos Softsis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Niki Lefkadas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Eleutheria M. and PAOK. Esperides at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Niki Lefkadas is looking forward to face league's leader Olympiacos in Piraeus in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Esperides will play at home against Eleutheria M. and is hoping to win this game.
