Rather expected game when 10th ranked Giannena (3-10) lost at home to eighth ranked Proteas (6-7) 84-77 on Wednesday. Proteas looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American power forward Sarah Boothe (195-1990, college: Stanford) nailed 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international Christina Anastasopoulou (182-2002) accounted for 19 points and 5 assists. Proteas' coach Alexis Daglas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Konstantina Sarigiannidou (180-1990) came up with 24 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Terae Briggs (190-1997, college: Nevada) added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Giannena in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Proteas moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Chania. Loser Giannena keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Panathlitikos. Proteas will meet at home bottom-ranked Dafni Agioy (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Giannena will play against PAOK in Thessaloniki and hope to secure a win.
