There was an upset when 4th placed Ploiesti CSM (8-4) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Targu Mures (4-8) 78-73 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Center Szabolcs Santa (208-1987) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Montenegrin point guard Goran Martinic (187-1987) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Targu Mures players scored in double figures. The former international center Bogdan Popa (212-1997, agency: BIG) produced 18 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian center Veljko Brkic (206-1995) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Ploiesti CSM's coach Mihai Popa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Targu Mures maintains eighth place with 4-8 record. Loser Ploiesti CSM still keeps top position with four games lost. They share it with Timisoara. Targu Mures will meet at home Targu Jiu (#8) in the next round.
