Regular Season Round 12: Njardvik - IR 103-74
Date: January 5, 2023
Very expected game when 10th ranked IR (2-10) was smashed on the road by second ranked Njardvik (9-3) 103-74 on Thursday. The game without a history. Njardvik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Argentinian Lisandro Rasio (197-1990) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Dedrick Basile (178-1994, college: CSUB) supported him with 30 points and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 26 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) by American forward Taylor Johns (201-1994, college: UC Riverside, agency: Slash Sports) did not help to save the game for IR. Spanish-Argentinian guard Luciano Massarelli (190-1993) added 12 points and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Njardvik maintains second position with 9-3 record behind leader Valur, which they share with Keflavik. IR lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with ten games lost. Njardvik will meet at home Hottur (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. IR will play against Tindastoll and hope to secure a win.
