There was a minor upset in Reykjavik where 7th ranked IA (5-9) was defeated by ninth ranked Armann (3-4) 83-73 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-73. Armann outrebounded IA 48-37 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by IA's players. The best player for the winners was forward Illugi Steingrimsson (192-1996) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. American center William Thompson (203-1993, college: Felician) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. American power forward Jalen Dupree (205-1998, college: Tennessee St.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and Croatian Marko Jurica (194-1996) added 21 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. IA's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Armann maintains ninth position with 3-4 record. IA lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Fjolnir. Armann will meet higher ranked Sindri (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. IA will play against Fjolnir (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
