There was no surprise when 10th ranked RO SAzzurra (4-9) lost on the road to seventh ranked San Salvatore (8-5) 77-64 on Saturday. San Salvatore made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when San Salvatore made 7 blocks. Guard Silvia Ceccarelli (182-1996) nailed 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and Slovenian forward Zala Srot (184-2004) accounted for 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four San Salvatore players scored in double figures. North Macedonian forward Matea Nikolic (190-2002, college: Kansas) came up with 19 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Israeli point guard Giulia Prosperi (180-1997) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for RO SAzzurra in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for San Salvatore. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Matelica. RO SAzzurra lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Bolzano AV. San Salvatore will meet at home higher ranked Firenze (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. RO SAzzurra will play against the league's leader Empoli (#1) and hope to secure a win.
