Regular Season Round 17: Lucenec - Handlova 116-98

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Handlova (5-12) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Lucenec (8-8) 116-98 on Saturday. Lucenec dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Handlova's 56. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American point guard Tyrik Armstrong (178, college: Texas Southern, agency: MSG) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import guard Tahj Eaddy (188-1996, college: USC) chipped in 29 points. Lucenec's coach Nenad Milosevic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Montenegrin Danilo Aranitovic (203-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and Italian-Argentinian swingman Tomas Cavallero (198-1998) scored 24 points and 4 assists. Five Lucenec and four Handlova players scored in double figures. Lucenec moved-up to fourth place. Loser Handlova stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Lucenec will meet higher ranked Inter Bratislava (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Handlova will play against the league's leader Spisski Rytieri (#1) in Nova Ves and hope to secure a win.
