Very expected game when 15th ranked Azkoitia (3-13) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Alcobendas (10-7) 62-54 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American guard Rachel Howard (178-1995, college: USF) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Clara Rodriguez (184-1996) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Alcobendas' coach Julian Sanchez used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Sara Iparragirre (173-1998) produced 13 points and guard Intza Lizarazu (171-1991) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Alcobendas moved-up to seventh place. Azkoitia lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. Alcobendas will meet at home higher ranked Zamarat (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Azkoitia will play against Picken Claret (#14) in Valencia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
