Regular Season Round 16: AZS UMK - Ogniwo Szcz. 77-74

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked AZS UMK (12-4) edged 13th ranked Ogniwo Szcz. (4-12) in Torun 77-74 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. AZS UMK forced 21 Ogniwo Szcz. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by Arkadiusz Kobus (196-1986) who scored that evening 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Przemyslaw Tradecki (185-1989) supported him with 11 points and 13 assists. Four AZS UMK players scored in double figures. AZS UMK's coach Kamil Michalski used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 26 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks by center Karol Pytys (202-1985) did not help to save the game for Ogniwo Szcz.. Guard Maksym Kolodziej (182-2003) added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for lost side. AZS UMK moved-up to third place, which they share with Resovia and Koscian. Ogniwo Szcz. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Czeladz. AZS UMK will meet Ksiezak (#7) in the next round. Ogniwo Szcz. will play against AMW Gdynia (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
