Regular Season Round 15: Start - Spojnia 85-94

There was no surprise in Lublin where 14th ranked Start (4-10) was defeated by seventh ranked Spojnia (8-7) 94-85 on Sunday. It was a great shooting night for Spojnia especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was Jordan Mathews (191-1994, college: Gonzaga) who scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Courtney Fortson (180-1988, college: Arkansas) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Spojnia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Cleveland Melvin (203-1991, college: DePaul) who recorded 30 points and guard Scoochie Smith (188-1994, college: Dayton) added 11 points and 7 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Spojnia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Anwil. Start lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Spojnia will meet at home league's leader WKS Slask in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Start will play against Enea Astoria (#15) in Bydgoszcz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
