Regular Season Round 15: Armann - Hamar 81-97
Date: January 9, 2023
There was no surprise in Reykjavik where 9th ranked Armann (3-6) was defeated by second ranked Hamar (12-3) 97-81 on Monday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 61-43 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hamar made 11 blocks. It was a great evening for Spanish point guard Jose Medina (185-1993) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international center Ragnar Nathanaelsson (220-1991) helped adding 12 points, 22 rebounds and 9 blocks. Four Hamar players scored in double figures. Hamar's coach Halldor Thorsson used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Kristofer Gislason (194-1996) with 16 points and 6 rebounds and American center William Thompson (203-1993, college: Felician) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Hamar have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 12-3 record behind leader Alftanes. Newly promoted Armann keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Hamar will meet Selfoss (#4) on the road in the next round. Armann will play against Thor AK (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
