Regular Season Round 14: Denain-Voltaire - St. Chamond 85-99

There was an upset when higher ranked Denain Voltaire (7-7) was defeated at home by sixteenth ranked Saint Chamond (5-8) 99-85 on Tuesday. Saint Chamond shot 65.0 percent from the field. Saint Chamond had a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Denain Voltaire's players. Center Mathieu Boyer (208-1995) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Nigerian-American forward Josh Ajayi (201-1996, college: USA) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Saint Chamond players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American forward Chuba Ohams (206-1997, college: Fordham) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Swedish Johan Lofberg (199-1995) scored 20 points. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Saint Chamond moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser Denain Voltaire dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Saint Chamond will meet at home higher ranked Chalons-Reims (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Denain Voltaire will play against Olympique Antibes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
