Regular Season Round 14: Quimper - Lille 85-84

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Quimper UJAP (6-8) edged at home higher ranked Lille Metropole (8-6) 85-84 on Tuesday. It was a great shooting night for Quimper UJAP especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Swingman Elhadji-Digue Diawara (206-1998) scored 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and British forward Ashley Hamilton (201-1988, college: LMU) chipped in 16 points during the contest. Four Quimper UJAP players scored in double figures. Center Bastien Vautier (210-1998) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Lorenzo Thirouard-Samson (197-2001) scored 18 points. Lille Metropole's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Quimper UJAP moved-up to twelfth place. Loser Lille Metropole keeps the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Chalons-Reims. Quimper UJAP will meet higher ranked Saint-Quentin (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Lille Metropole will play against Aix-Maurienne and hope to secure a win.
