Regular Season Round 15: Zornotza - Navarra 78-70

There was a minor upset in Amorebieta-Echano where 4th placed Navarra (9-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Zornotza (9-6) 78-70 on Wednesday. Zornotza made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game, while Navarra only scored seven points from the stripe. It was a great evening for Mohamed Niang (198-2000) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Borja Mendia (200-1994) helped adding 13 points. Four Zornotza players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Pau Trevino (202-2002) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and forward Inaki Ordonez (207-2003) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Zornotza moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Navarra. Navarra lost third consecutive game. Zornotza will meet Zamora (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Navarra will play against Ponferrada (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
