There was no surprise when 14th ranked Hyeres-Toulon (3-16) lost at home to fifth ranked Caen (13-6) 68-60 on Friday. It was an exceptional evening for Kenyan-American forward Joel Awich (201-1993, college: Cal Poly) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Mounir Bernaoui (203-1997) accounted for 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Lithuanian point guard Mantvydas Staniulis (186-1997) came up with 17 points and forward Doume Pierrick Moukenga (203-1987) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Hyeres-Toulon in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hyeres-Toulon's coach Pierre Tavano let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Caen. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Hyeres-Toulon lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Pole France. Caen will meet at home SOPCC (#6) in the next round.
