Regular Season Round 12: Karditsas - AEK 64-70

Very expected game when 12th ranked Karditsas (1-11) was defeated at home by seventh ranked AEK (7-5) 70-64 on Saturday. AEK outrebounded Karditsas 44-31 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Latvian guard Janis Strelnieks (191-1989) who scored 13 points and 8 assists. American forward Cameron McGriff (201-1997, college: OK State) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four AEK players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Lamar Peters (183-1998, college: MSU) who recorded 16 points and his fellow American import guard Sayeed Pridgett (196-1998, college: Montana) added 6 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. AEK moved-up to fourth place, which they share with PAOK and Kolossos HH. Karditsas lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. AEK will meet Apollon P. (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Karditsas will play against Kolossos HH in Rodou and hope to win that game.
