There was no surprise in Athens where 10th ranked Giannena (3-12) was defeated by third ranked Eleutheria M. (9-6) 72-57 on Sunday. Eleutheria M. made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for point guard Lilia Karakasidou (165-2001) who led her team to a victory scoring 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Japanese power forward Monica Okoye (182-1999) helped adding 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Eleutheria M. players scored in double figures. Eleutheria M.'s coach Marios Despotakis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Konstantina Sarigiannidou (180-1990) with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and Cameroonian forward Marguerite Effa (190-1997, college: Nevada) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Eleutheria M. maintains third place with 9-6 record having six points less than leader Olympiacos. Giannena lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Dafni Agioy. Eleutheria M. will meet league's leader Olympiacos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Giannena will play against Dafni Agioy (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
