Regular Season Round 15: Crema - Bergamo 64-78

There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Bergamo (5-10) won against on the road higher ranked Crema (6-9) 78-64 on Sunday. They outrebounded Crema 42-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Alexander Simoncelli (191-1986, agency: SLN) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 assists. Forward Salvatore Genovese (200-1987, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Five Bergamo players scored in double figures. Bergamo's coach Marco Albanesi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Riccardo Crespi (205-1997) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and swingman William Wiltshire (197-2001) added 18 points and 4 steals respectively for Crema in the defeat. Bergamo moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Ragusa and Teramo. Crema lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Bergamo will meet at home higher ranked Padova Unione (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Crema will play against Palermo (#16) and hope to secure a win.
