The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Girona as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Girona defeated 7th ranked Barca CBS at home 65-58. Montenegrin-American swingman Eshaya Murphy (181-1985, college: USC) fired 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Brittney Sykes (175-1994, college: Syracuse) chipped in 15 points. Montenegrin power forward Kristina Rakovic (186-1994) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and guard Marta Canella (178-1995) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Girona (14-2) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Barca CBS keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Barca CBS will play next round against Leganes trying to get back on the winning streak. Girona will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Gernika on the road.
