Regular Season Round 12: PAOK - Peristeri 70-81

The most interesting game of round 12 in the GBL was a home defeat of 4th ranked PAOK (7-5) to third ranked Peristeri (8-4) 81-70 in the game for the third place. It ended the two-game winning streak of PAOK. Peristeri made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of French point guard Sylvain Francisco (185-1997, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists and the former international forward Leonidas Kaselakis (200-1990) who added 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Peristeri players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Jaylen Hands (191-1999, college: UCLA) with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the former international power forward Vangelis Margaritis (203-1982) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Peristeri maintains third position with 8-4 record having four points less than leader Olympiacos. PAOK at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with AEK and Kolossos HH. Peristeri are looking forward to face league's leader Olympiacos in Piraeus in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. PAOK's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Thessaloniki to the arena Aris.
