Regular Season Round 15: Campus Varese - Oleggio 81-85

Rather predictable result when thirteenth ranked Oleggio (6-9) won against on the road 15th ranked Campus Varese (2-13) 85-81 on Sunday. They outrebounded Campus Varese 38-22 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for guard Matteo Maruca (185-1997) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Tommaso Ingrosso (206-1992, college: W.Texas CC) accounted for 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Oleggio players scored in double figures. Chinese guard Wei Zhao (181-2005) came up with 27 points and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and forward Jonathan Blair (195-2000) added 25 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Campus Varese in the defeat. Campus Varese's coach Gabriele Donati tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Oleggio moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 5 other teams. Campus Varese lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Cesena and Empoli. Oleggio will meet higher ranked Omegna (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Campus Varese will play against the league's leader Vigevano (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
