GBL top team - Olympiacos (12-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Apollon P. (3-9) in Piraeus 97-60. Olympiacos made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Olympiacos outrebounded Apollon P. 41-28 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by Cypriot-Bulgarian forward Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-1995) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and American Alec Peters (206-1995, college: Valpo) supported him with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. Olympiacos' coach Georgios Bartzokas felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 16 points and 4 assists by American guard Alonzo Verge Jr (190-1998, college: Nebraska) did not help to save the game for Apollon P.. His fellow American import guard Nick Griffin (188-1995, college: St.Peter's) added 13 points. Olympiacos have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-0 record. Apollon P. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Ionikos. Olympiacos will play against Peristeri (#3) in Athens in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Apollon P. will play at home against AEK (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
