Regular Season Round 21: Kotka - Seagulls 94-91

The most exciting game of round 21 in the Korisliiga took place in Kotka. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best Seagulls (15-6) to seventh ranked Kotka (10-11) 94-91 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Seagulls. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 3 points. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard Brandon Sly (180-1996, college: ASU) who scored 31 points and 7 assists. Guard Brandon Tabb (193-1995, college: BCU) chipped in 24 points. Tabb is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Jeffrey Carroll (198-1994, college: OK State) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Zena Edosomwan (206-1993, college: Harvard) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Four Kotka and five Seagulls players scored in double figures. Seagulls' coach Jussi Laakso rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kotka maintains seventh place with 10-11 record, which they share with Kobrat. Seagulls at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Kotka is looking forward to face Honka (#10) in Espoo in the next round. Seagulls will play at home against Lahti (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
