An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kauhajoki. First ranked Kauhajoki faced 3rd placed Kataja. Host Kauhajoki (18-3) smashed guests from Joensuu (13-8) 95-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kataja. The game without a history. Kauhajoki led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. His fellow American import forward Lee Skinner (198-1992, college: Wofford) contributed with 7 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Galin Smith (206-1998, college: Maryland) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Tuomas Hirvonen (181-1996) added 14 points in the effort for Kataja. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-3 record. Kataja at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Kauhajoki will play against Pyrinto (#9) in Tampere in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kataja will play at home against Kouvot (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
