Subway League top team - Keflavik (15-1) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Breidablik (3-13) in Kopavogur 89-69. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Keflavik dominated on the defensive end, holding Breidablik to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 24 Breidablik turnovers. Keflavik looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by Venezuelan Daniela Wallen (179-1995, college: Okla City) who scored that evening 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals and the former international forward Birna Benonysdottir (187-2000, college: Binghamton) supported her with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Keflavik players scored in double figures. Keflavik's coach Hordur Vilhjalmsson used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 32 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) by Serbian-Hungarian swingman Sanja Orozovic (186-1990) did not help to save the game for Breidablik. The former international forward Rosa Petursdottir (175-1997) added 9 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for lost side. Keflavik have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-1 record. Breidablik lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 13 games lost. Keflavik will meet at home league's second-placed Haukar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Breidablik will play against Grindavik (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
