The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Hrunamenn's (7-9) home victory over 8th ranked IA (5-11) in Fludir 94-78 on Friday. Hrunamenn dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to IA's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American forward Ahmad Gilbert (200-1996, college: St.Thomas, FL) who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists and American-Hungarian forward Sam Burt (201-1994, college: FPU) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Burt is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Hrunamenn players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 6 assists by guard Thordur Jonsson (182-2005) did not help to save the game for IA. American power forward Jalen Dupree (205-1998, college: Tennessee St.) added 21 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hrunamenn moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Skallagrimur. IA lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Hrunamenn will meet higher ranked Sindri (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. IA will play against the league's leader Alftanes (#1) and hope to secure a win.
