Regular Season Round 17: Anwil - Sokol 78-89

There was an upset when higher ranked Anwil (8-9) lost to fourteenth ranked Sokol (6-11) in Wloclawek 78-89 on Friday. Sokol made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Forward Corey Sanders (188-1997, college: Rutgers) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 assists for the winning side and guard James Eads III (190-1997, college: Tuskegee, agency: 011 Sports) accounted for 16 points. Four Sokol players scored in double figures. Forward Luke Petrasek (206-1995, college: Columbia) came up with 17 points and 8 rebounds and guard Phil Greene IV (187-1992, college: St.John's) added 19 points and 5 assists respectively for Anwil in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sokol moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with GTK and Arka. Anwil lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Zastal and MKS DG. Sokol will meet higher ranked Wilki Morskie (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Anwil will play against the league's leader WKS Slask (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
