There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked E.Shomron (5-10) beat at home higher ranked M.Ramat Gan (7-8) 78-74 on Friday. Strangely M.Ramat Gan outrebounded E.Shomron 45-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Keith Stone (206-1997, college: Miami, FL) who scored 29 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Eyal Shulman (192-1987, agency: Avi Zilberman) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Kevin Capers (188-1993, college: FSC, agency: BIG) who recorded 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Demetrius Treadwell (201-1991, college: Akron) added 13 points and 16 rebounds respectively. Four M.Ramat Gan players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted E.Shomron maintains twelfth place with 5-10 record. Loser M.Ramat Gan keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with M.Haifa. E.Shomron will meet league's second-placed H.Afula on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. M.Ramat Gan will play against Maccabi Rishon (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
