No shocking result in a game in Aigaleo where seventh ranked Promitheas (7-6) defeated 9th ranked Ionikos (3-10) 74-66 on Saturday. Promitheas dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Ionikos' 30. Promitheas forced 20 Ionikos turnovers. American guard Joe Thomasson (193-1993, college: Wright St., agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 16 points and 7 assists for the winners and Puerto Rican center George Conditt IV (208-2000, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side the former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-1984) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Deontae Hawkins (203-1993, college: Boston Coll.) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Ionikos' coach Angelos Tsiklititras let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Promitheas. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Aris and PAOK. Loser Ionikos keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Apollon P.. Promitheas will meet at home higher ranked Kolossos HH (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ionikos will play against the league's second-placed Panathinaikos (#2) in Athens and hope to secure a win.
