Regular Season Round 16: Armann - Thor AK 109-84

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Thor AK's (1-15) road loss to ninth ranked Armann (4-6) in Reykjavik 84-109 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Armann. Thor AK managed to win fourth quarter 26-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Thor AK 42-31 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Armann looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Thor AK's players. The winners were led by American center William Thompson (203-1993, college: Felician) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-1990) supported him with 25 points. Armann's coach Karl Guddaugsson felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds by Croatian power forward Toni Cutuk (208-1999) did not help to save the game for Thor AK. Spanish point guard Arturo Fernandez (183-1990, agency: Helping Ballers) added 21 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Armann maintains ninth position with 4-6 record. Thor AK lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Armann will meet league's second-placed Hamar on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Thor AK will play against Fjolnir (#7) and hope to win that game.
