Regular Season Round 3: Gtuni - ATSU 113-45

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Gtuni (#2) and ATSU (#6). Gtuni (2-1) crushed visiting ATSU (0-3) by 68 points 113-45. Gtuni held ATSU to an opponent 20.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 54.2 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded ATSU 58-38 including a 44-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gtuni players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by ATSU's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American center Eddie Hunt (201-1996, college: Limestone) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Giorgi Dvali (182-1995) helped adding 23 points. Hunt is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Gtuni players scored in double figures. Gtuni's coach Davit Nozadze felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was naturalized Azerbaijani guard Papuna Kirtadze (190-2001) with 20 points and forward Giorgi Tcheishvili (195-2002) scored 7 points and 15 rebounds. Gtuni's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Dinamo.
