There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Widzew (3-13) crushed 10th ranked Enea AZS II P. (4-12) in Lodz 90-48 on Sunday. Widzew dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Enea AZS II P.'s 32. Widzew forced 24 Enea AZS II P. turnovers and had a 34-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Forward Oliwia Janicka (181-2005) nailed 15 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winning side and swingman Kinga Sierakowska (175-1998) accounted for 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Five Widzew players scored in double figures. Center Wiktoria Haegenbarth (186-2007) came up with 9 points and 9 rebounds and guard Lena Brzustowska (178-2007) added 13 points respectively for Enea AZS II P. in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Widzew moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Bydgoszcz. Enea AZS II P. lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with AZS UMCS II. Widzew will meet Aleksandrow L. (#13) in the next round. Enea AZS II P. will play against Katy Wrocl. and hope to secure a win.
