There was no surprise when 8th ranked Nardo (8-10) was crushed on the road by first ranked Pistoia (14-4) 98-77 on Sunday. Pistoia made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Pistoia had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Zach Copeland (193-1997, college: Illinois St.) scored 31 points to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Jordon Varnado (198-1997, college: Troy) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Pistoia's coach Nicola Brienza felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American point guard Russ Smith (183-1991, college: Louisville) with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian swingman Vojislav Stojanovic (199-1997) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pistoia maintains first position with 14-4 record, which they share with Forli and Cento. Nardo lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with ten games lost. They share the position with Ferrara and Rimini. Pistoia will meet Mantova (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
