Second Stage Round 3: Montana - Celje 50-95
Date: January 25, 2023
The game between Top Four teams took place in Montana. Bulgarian host Montana (5-4) was smashed by Slovenian Celje (8-1) 95-50. The game without a history. Celje led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 28 Montana turnovers and outrebounded them 48-32 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Celje players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Australian Taylah Simmons (185-1997, college: Southeastern) who led the winners and scored 9 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Lea Debeljak (176-2001) accounted for 15 points for the winning side. North Macedonian point guard Andjelika Mitrashinovic (177-1993) came up with 5 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and center Aleksandra Nikolaeva Petrova (190-1998) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Montana in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Celje will play against Duga (#6) in Sabac in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Montana will play on the road against Vojvodina 021 in Novi Sad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
