There was no surprise when Marsky Helsinki was defeated at home by Vimpelin Veto 76-70 on Friday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-9. But Marsky Helsinki won second period 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Tynice Martin (180-1997, college: WVU) stepped up and scored 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import power forward Kristina King (190-1995, college: WVU) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks. At the losing side international guard Elina Aarnisalo (177-2005) responded with 27 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Kati Ollilainen (173-2003) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Marsky Helsinki's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Vimpelin Veto will meet at home Catz Lappeenranta in the next round. Marsky Helsinki's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Helsinki to the arena Torpan Pojat.
