The biggest surprise took place in Kopavogur where host Breidablik (8-6) beat league's leader Valur (11-3) 89-78 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Valur. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 48-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Jeremy Smith (190-1991, college: Nicholls St.) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import guard Everage Richardson (191-1985, college: Coastal) chipped in 23 points. The former international guard Kari Jonsson (192-1997, college: Drexel) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Argentinian-Italian Pablo Bertone (190-1990, college: FAU, agency: Interperformances) added 22 points respectively for the guests. Five Breidablik and four Valur players scored in double figures. Breidablik maintains fifth position with 8-6 record. Defending champion Valur still keeps top place with three games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Keflavik who have the same record. Valur will play next round against strong Haukar trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Breidablik will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Keflavik on the road.
